A 48-year-old Australian woman got lost with the car in a forest in the state of Victoria, in southeastern Australia, and survived five days on sweets and wine, even though she did not drink alcohol.

In a statement, Victoria Police said the woman, identified by the media as Lillian Ip, was on a trip to see her mother when her car got stuck in the mud in an area without mobile phone coverage and her relatives alerted of her disappearance on April 30.

Ip got the wrong way when driving through the Mitta Mitta area and was stuck with only lollipops, sweets and the bottle of wine she was bringing to her mother.

"I thought I was going to die there ... I was just sitting around and thinking, 'What am I going to do? How am I going to survive?'" the woman told Channel 9, even writing a farewell letter to her relatives.

Then, on the fifth day, she heard the sound of the police helicopter that had gone out to look for her.

"Lillian was about 60 kilometers from the nearest city and due to health problems she could not try to walk, so she stayed next to the car," said Martin Torpey, sergeant of the Wodonga City Police.

The woman was taken to hospital for a check-up for dehydration and was soon able to return to her family.

"I'm an adventure person, but next time I'll be more prepared," Ip told Channel 9.
