Beijing, May 5 (ZXS) -- China's Supreme People's Procuratorate announced on the 6th that in the first quarter of 6, procuratorial organs across the country approved the arrest of a total of 2023,10923 people for fraud crimes, ranking second among all crimes; 2,18146 people were prosecuted, ranking fifth among all charges.

According to the Supreme People's Procuratorate, fraud crimes mainly present three characteristics. First of all, it involves a wide range of areas, and it is closely related to market demand.

In handling the case, the procuratorate found that in addition to the traditional common types of fraud such as telecommunications network fraud, financial fraud, and routine loan fraud, new types of fraud such as pension fraud, medical insurance fraud, and collectible fraud continue to emerge and have a variety of names.

Fraud crimes are also characterized by "obvious characteristics of organization and scale", according to reports, more than half of the fraud cases prosecuted by the procuratorate are joint crimes.

An officially disclosed fraud case shows that criminals registered a certain chain company such as a cultural exchange limited company, recruited employees to form a fraud criminal group, and packaged handicrafts, calligraphy and paintings from cheap wholesale wholesale in the distribution and wholesale market into "collections" with several times to dozens of times the appreciation space, luring the elderly to buy. By the time the case came to light, the fraud group had defrauded more than 160.2071 million yuan from more than <> victims.

In addition, the characteristics of fraud crimes are that "criminal methods tend to be intelligent and concealed". The procuratorate found that in the past, scenes that used to use the telephone to commit fraud began to shift more to the Internet, and artificial intelligence, big data analysis, etc. were used in all aspects of the fraud.

Some analysts have pointed out that fraud in the network environment spreads widely, is fast, has many deceived people, and has low crime costs and is easy to copy, which not only increases the cost of handling cases, but also increases the difficulty of crime crackdown and prevention.

The Supreme People's Procuratorate said that while cracking down on fraud crimes in accordance with the law, the procuratorial organs have improved their working mechanisms, strengthened the supervision of similar cases, and promoted comprehensive social management. For example, in view of the trend of gang-based and professional fraud crimes, on the basis of severe punishment, the procuratorial organs have leniently dealt with minor crime cases involving accomplices and coerced accomplices with low participation and little harm, and who have confessed guilt and repented, and actively returned stolen goods.

According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2023, the procuratorate did not approve the arrest of 9630,4238 people and did not prosecute <>,<> people suspected of fraud. (End)
