"I am extremely concerned about the very real threats to nuclear safety that the plant faces," Grossi said.

He added that he would insist on the commitment of all parties to achieving nuclear safety.

"We must act now to prevent the threat of a severe nuclear accident," the IAEA Director General said.

Earlier, Renat Karchaa, adviser to the general director of the Rosenergoatom concern, said that the UN's dissatisfaction with the IAEA's idea of a safety zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was caused by the position of the agency's director general, Rafael Grossi, on protecting the station from strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Also, the director of the ZNPP, Yuriy Chernychuk, said that the operation of all units at the Zaporizhzhia NPP was stopped.
