A lieutenant of the Civil Guard of Buitrago de Lozoya (Madrid) has been arrested by the Internal Affairs Service of the armed institute in connection with the disappearance of a truck loaded with tobacco valued at about two million euros.

According to the digital Vozpopuli.com, and sources of the Benemérita have confirmed to EFE, the arrested lieutenant is the head of the Traffic detachment of the aforementioned Madrid town where other civil guards are being investigated in relation to this incident.

The truck, which was carrying a load of tobacco contraband, suffered a traffic accident after which it was reported that the vehicle "burned completely and supposedly it was not so since they took the tobacco from inside in Buitrago. The tobacco was stamped and that's how they discovered the alleged illegal negotiations that took place," Vozpopuli publishes.

The head of the Traffic detachment arrested and the agents investigated are accused of alleged "smuggling and falsification of documents," according to the same source.
