In a video posted Friday on Wagner's social account on Telegram, Prigozhin stands in front of a large number of dead Wagner soldiers and accuses the military leadership of actively sacrificing his men and letting them fall en masse.

Prigozhin's mercenaries have taken heavy losses during the decade-long fighting in Bakhmut and he says he is now prepared to withdraw them from the city within five days.

"I am withdrawing Wagner forces because the lack of ammunition means that they are doomed to die for no reason," Prigozhin said in a video clip.

The Wagner chief has previously threatened the Russian military leadership with a withdrawal, but has not fulfilled his ultimatum.

In the video, Prigozhin expresses his dissatisfaction with the lack of ammunition.
