– We are now taking steps to be able to act if external circumstances affect society, cooking should be able to take place even if the rest of society has been shut down, says Mark Henriksson (M), chairman of the municipal executive board in Motala.

The new meal centre will have its own generators and independent water supply, which means that the centre will stand on its own two feet if the crisis comes.

– Regardless of what happens in the outside world and here in Motala, the meal center will be stable and we will thus be able to ensure that our older and younger people always get food, says Nils-Eric Dålse (SD), chairman of the technical service committee.

The new meal centre is budgeted for SEK 108 million and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024.
