The Government wants to strengthen knowledge about post-covid and other conditions that can occur after infections. The National Board of Health and Welfare will develop a national knowledge support, says Minister for Health Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD). This will make it easier for healthcare providers in municipalities and regions to identify post-covid and give patients the right treatment.

"If I get better overall knowledge support, I as a healthcare profession have a better opportunity to make the right diagnosis," says Ankarberg Johansson.

In addition, the National Board of Health and Welfare will investigate the possibility of starting a national knowledge center.

Unclear how many people have been affected

It is unclear how many people have been affected by post-covid and how many still have symptoms. The extent will also be investigated more closely," says Jakob Forssmed.

Several post-covid clinics were opened during the pandemic. Some of them have been closed recently, but Jakob Forssmed cannot answer whether the government will inject money into the regions to open more clinics.

"Of course, we will have to return to more issues later on," says the Minister for Social Affairs.

"How healthcare is organised is also ultimately a matter for the regions.
