"I have been delivering food for more than 7 years, and I just want to deliver every order. Being able to receive the award in Beijing this time is actually the recognition of the food delivery industry and every delivery worker in the whole society. On April 4, Guo Feng, a Ele.me Blue Knight from Wuhan, walked into the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and won the National May Day Labor Medal, happy and proud.

On the same day, the takeaway riders who won the National May Day Labor Medal with Guo Feng also included Tian Dan from Shanghai and Liao Zemeng from Chongqing. Why can these takeaway riders win the National May Day Labor Medal and walk into the Great Hall of the People to receive the award? What are some of the outstanding achievements they have made in their work?

Guo Feng: "Timely rain" among takeaway riders

Guo Feng, 45 years old this year, is the webmaster of Ele.me's Wuhan Hanjie station, which has more than 100 people. "Every holiday such as 'May Day', there will be more than a dozen people in the station to rest, but the number of orders has increased a lot, and there are fewer people and more orders, so I will choose to work overtime every New Year and then take a break after the holiday." Guo Feng said that this rhythm of work has been maintained since he became a rider in 2016 and has continued to this day.

During the Wuhan epidemic in 2020, Guo Feng did not return to his hometown in Jingmen for the New Year, but stayed in Wuhan to lead 7 takeaway brothers to deliver meals to medical escorts for 76 days. Walking through empty streets, he went against the road again and again, delivering meals to medical escorts and buying medicines for residents who were unable to go out.

Guo Feng is also an expert in safety training and newcomer training. For his new colleagues, Guo Feng's most common words are: "I don't know the road, feel free to video with me, I am familiar with this piece, I will tell you how to go." Because of this promise, he even received a video call from a colleague asking for directions at two o'clock in the morning.

When the electric bicycle runs out of power and breaks down during the delivery of food by colleagues, the first thing that comes to mind is to ask Guo Feng to come to support, and Guo Feng will immediately rush to the scene to quickly solve the problem. As a result, he was dubbed the "timely rain" of delivery riders by his colleagues.

In August of that year, Guo Feng also appeared at the press conference of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions as a front-line anti-epidemic representative to tell the whole society the anti-epidemic stories of online food delivery workers. Guo Feng said that delivery riders are also an important part of the city, and he is willing to actively participate in the development of the city and contribute his own strength.

Tian Dan: A female rider who travels all over Shanghai to deliver medicine

In March 2021, Tian Dan came to Shanghai from Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province, and became the Ele.me Blue Knight. As a takeaway "community man", she mainly carries out long-distance delivery services, riding electric vehicles through the streets of Shanghai every day.

During the epidemic in 2022, Tian Dan took the initiative to sign up and became the only female rider in the platform's emergency special needs project. She leaves early and returns late every day, drives around the country, delivers milk powder, diapers and special medicines that the baby urgently needs, and volunteers to deliver these urgently needed supplies.

In April 2022, there was a backlog in the distribution of online drug orders in Shanghai Children's Hospital, and the platform specially set up a "baby medicine delivery car". As the leader of the volunteer team, Tian Dan drove to distribute prescription drugs to young patients for free. Many of them are drugs for rare diseases and drugs that cannot be stopped.

The "medicine delivery car" has heavy tasks and large quantities every day, and each step must be meticulous and rigorous in order to deliver medicines to the baby accurately and on time. Because of the large demand for medicines, Tian Dan goes out at 9 a.m. every day, and often goes back at 12 o'clock in the evening, and the latest one is busy until 3 a.m.

"Because I am also a mother, I can feel the feelings of other mothers. Therefore, I signed up for the baby care car, the medicine delivery car, delivered rations and medicine to the baby, and became the mother of the children in the city. Tian Dan said.

Liao Zemeng: Self-reliant, nothing embarrassing

The round face and sweet smile are the "signature characteristics" of the post-95 blue knight Liao Zemeng. She loves life while delivering takeaway while sharing the small beauty of life with the people around her.

However, when he first became a rider, Liao Zemeng, who graduated from college, rarely mentioned this job to others. After running for two months, she found that she liked this line of work: "What is embarrassing about supporting yourself by labor?!" So, whenever she has time, she sends the rider to the circle of friends every day.

Liao Zemeng often records the fun things she sees on the delivery road in the form of hand-drawn, text or video. Last year, she hand-drew a "takeaway cheat" based on her experience in food delivery, teaching everyone how to write notes when ordering food, so that the takeaway food purchased is more affordable. This cartoon hand-drawn "cheatbook" was unanimously praised by netizens.

In her spare time, Liao Zemeng is also the executive committee member of the Women's Federation of Times Tianjie Drink New Employment Group in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, and is enthusiastic about community service. In November last year, when Chongqing was challenged by the severe epidemic, the shortage of takeaway transportation capacity affected the daily necessities ordered by many citizens. For 11 days before and after that, she ran from morning to night, delivering vegetables, medicines and other supplies to citizens.

"Actually, at that time, it was still very hard, but I felt that the city needed us, and I felt that this profession was a kind of job that was needed, and this feeling was so good, that is, it had its own value." Liao Zemeng said. (Daily Worker)
