Children around Sweden have been selling cornflowers online and out on the streets and squares for 17 days. And sales have gone well.
"When we closed the digital Mayflower shops at midnight, the children had collected 71.6 million. It is a clear record, it was previously 67 million, says Majblomman's Secretary General Åse Henell in a press release.
"And now we are waiting for the accounting of certain cash purchases of cornflowers. So the children have sold for even more.

11-year-old Murhaf in Glimåkra has received the most attention. After a social media post went viral, his online sales took off and by the end of the night, he had sold for almost exactly five million. Of that, he gets to keep ten percent plus the tip he received. For the first time ever, the commission becomes so large that it becomes taxable. Much of the other money will stay in Glimåkra at Majblommeföreningen there.

When SVT met Murhaf Hamid on Tuesday afternoon, he was informed that he had sold for SEK 2.4 million. By 13 p.m. on Wednesday, the figure was up to 4.3 million.
