"We ask to amend the provisions on the passport of a citizen of Ukraine, which stipulate that the passport is drawn up in the state language, in accordance with part 1 of article 8 of the language law," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He explained that in Ukraine there are two forms of passports in parallel: biometric passports and old-style passports, in which information is recorded both in Ukrainian and in Russian language.

Earlier, the head of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) Epiphanius said that prayers at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra should be conducted only in Ukrainian.

As part of the "de-Russification" in 2022, Ukrainian libraries destroyed over 20 million books in Russian language.

Director of the Dnipropetrovsk City Public Library Yulia Bardukova noted that all literature published in Russia is subject to revision in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
