With our special envoy in Rabat, Pierrick Bonno

Eric Ciotti has prepared at length for his first trip as party leader abroad. And he shows it. Upon his arrival in the office of the Moroccan Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, the boss of the French right welcomed a royal decree taken the day before: the Berber New Year declared a national holiday in Morocco. A dozen Moroccan journalists immortalized the scene.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the Moroccan government was smiling: "We have excellent relations. We work together. We want to develop these relationships even more. The Prime Minister immediately clarified that it was as party leader that he received Eric Ciotti. There is no question of speaking on behalf of the Royal Palace or publicly commenting on the tense relations between Mohammed VI and Emmanuel Macron. But the boss of the LR, he does not deprive himself of it:

« It is intolerable to measure this deterioration today. It is not good for France or Morocco. We must now ensure that the mistakes that have been made and the lack of consideration shown to Morocco are redressed. In any case, we will contribute to it. »

Thank you to the Prime Minister, President of the RNI, Aziz Akhannouch for his welcome in the Moroccan capital as well as for our exchanges.

It is up to us to strengthen, together, this relationship of the future as useful to France and Morocco as it is to Africa and Europe. pic.twitter.com/MzNcDB6MjX

Eric Ciotti wants in particular a strong partnership with Rabat in terms of immigration, with a very political objective for the boss of the right: to cut the migratory route between sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.
