There are seven employees at elderly care in Harads who will be expelled shortly, which Norr Media was the first to tell about.

– Some are permanent employees and others have temporary positions – but all were planned to work one hundred percent all summer, says unit manager Christina Nyberg, unit manager for the elderly care home Älvstrand in Harads.

Investing in asylum seekers

Few Swedes apply for jobs in elderly care in Harads. The difficulty in finding staff has led to the development of an introduction programme for receiving and training asylum seekers. Today, about one in three employees in elderly care in Harad are asylum seekers, a proportion that is also increasing.

"The fact that so many of our staff are being expelled just before the summer means that we must quickly try to find substitutes. Nor will they have time to get the same introduction as the staff we are losing have received.

Substitute hunting

"It can also mean that our permanent staff need to sell their summer holidays in order for there to be enough expertise in the departments," says Christina Nyberg.
