In a short time, seven employees at the nursing home in Harads have been told that they must leave Sweden before the summer, which means that elderly care in Harads is now in a temporary crisis before the summer, as Norr Media was the first to tell.

"Feels like we're being punished"

Two of the employees at the shelter who have recently been informed that they are being expelled from Sweden are Brigetta Basta and Osama Tanyos from Egypt. After just over three years in Harads, they now have both jobs and a socially well-functioning life.

"I've learned Swedish, I work and contribute to society. Now I feel like I'm being punished for it," says nursing assistant Brigetta Basta.

Has been working for two years

Brigetta Basta has worked for just over two years at the nursing home in Harads. But when three recent rejections of her asylum application came in quick succession, she missed the time to convert her asylum application into a work permit application.

SVT Norrbotten has previously reported on another of the employees at the accommodation who in a short time was rejected from Sweden, Haijfa, who was expelled after a miss when her asylum application was to be converted to an application for a work residence permit.
