"The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed to initiate a criminal case on the fact of the attack on the building of the Russian Consulate in the city of Mariehamn," the ministry said in a statement on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that Bastrykin instructed the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia to organize an investigation of this incident, giving a proper legal assessment of the actions of the persons involved under Art. 360 of the Criminal Code of Russia (attack on persons or institutions that enjoy international protection), as well as request from Russian Russia the information necessary for the investigation.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that a group of unknown persons committed an act of vandalism against the Russian consulate in Finnish Mariehamn, throwing an explosive noise device and other objects into the territory of the diplomatic institution.
