He is the architect who wants to see more smaller cities in the future. Crises and now also wars in Europe show that it is regions with a large concentration in a larger city that are most vulnerable, says Jonathan Naraine.

In his master's thesis at Chalmers last year, he states that areas with many smaller city centers and close to a living countryside in between are the recipe for future success, not least in times of crisis or war.

Skaraborg clear example

He also discusses how regions and municipalities can become more self-sufficient.

"Skaraborg is a good example of such an area," says Jonathan Naraine.

Now Jonathan is a planning architect at Skara municipality. He has for several years been involved in local food supply and was involved in starting a site where people who wanted to farm, but lacked land, could be connected with people who had land to spare.
