Laure Adler, former cultural adviser to François Mitterrand and presenter of "L'Heure bleue", and Jérôme Garcin, who has hosted "Le Masque et la Plume" for 34 years, are preparing to bow out "to indulge in other activities, each individually," a spokesman for France Inter told AFP.

The website Livres hebdo had announced earlier this week that Jérôme Garcin would leave in December "The Mask and the Feather", created in 1955 and which brings together some 600,000 listeners every Sunday.

The show "Le Masque et la Plume" "will always be there on Sunday," said the director of the radio, Adèle Van Reeth, saying she is looking for a person to take over from Jérôme Garcin, 66, who will also leave the culture department of "L'Obs" he directs.

On the other hand, "L'Heure Bleue" will go with Laure Adler and "another show" will be offered on its slot (Monday to Thursday from 20H to 21H), according to France Inter.

Adèle Van Reeth paid tribute to the journalist who "dedicated her life to ensuring that culture brings people together and is accessible to all".

In an interview with Les Inrockuptibles at the end of 2022, Laure Adler, now 73, promised to "stop working" in 2023. "Without it, I will die at the microphone," the journalist explained, stressing that the France did not give "enough room to young people".
