【ASEAN Special Line】The 128th China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand-Mekong River Joint Patrol Law Enforcement Operation was completed

Kunming, 4 Apr (ZXS) -- The Yunnan Provincial Public Security Department announced on 28 April that at 28 o'clock on the same day, two Chinese law enforcement boats participating in the 10th China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand-Mekong River Joint Patrol Law Enforcement Operation successfully berthed at China's Xishuangbanna Jingha Wharf, marking the successful completion of the operation.

The operation was launched on April 4, and the law enforcement departments of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand dispatched a total of 25 law enforcement boats and 7 law enforcement team members, which lasted four days and three nights, covering a total distance of more than 149 kilometers.

During the operation, the law enforcement departments of the four countries carried out joint operations in the form of joint patrols along all lines and sectional patrols in key waters, and China and the Lao military and police law enforcement departments carried out land open investigations, inspecting a total of 178 vehicles, more than 450 personnel and 120 tons of cargo, effectively deterring and cracking down on illegal and criminal activities around the river basin.

In addition, the law enforcement formation has successfully completed the rotation of the Chinese duty detachments of the China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand-Mekong River Joint Patrol Law Enforcement Station in Mengmo and Pan Sangguo Contact Points in Laos, and the new group of duty detachments is expected to carry out a four-month joint duty mission at the contact point.

According to the service commander of the joint patrol law enforcement formation, due to the recent weather, hydrology and other factors, the Mekong River Mengbario waters have changed the direction of the channel, the water level has dropped, etc., the joint patrol law enforcement formation actively took countermeasures, overcome unfavorable factors, and successfully completed the operation. The formation also issued timely early warning information through VHF and other marine communication means to remind passing merchant ships to pay attention to navigation safety and prevent navigation safety accidents such as running aground and running aground.

It is understood that after the end of this operation, China, Laos and Myanmar will continue to send law enforcement boats and law enforcement team members to carry out a week-long joint training mission in the waters of Pan Sangguo, Laos, and jointly carry out joint land and water investigation and boat training exercises, further enhance the ability of law enforcement personnel of all parties to deal with waterway emergencies, and make every effort to maintain the security and stability of the Mekong River Basin during the "May Day" period.
