The Tidö parties are currently negotiating on what level the reduction obligation should be.

The Sweden Democrats voted that the reduction obligation should be lowered to zero, but now Åkesson believes that 5-6 percent is a reasonable level.

Climate and Environment Minister Romina Pourmokhtari (L) has said that the Liberals want to see a blend of biofuel of between 12-16 percent, but according to him this is "completely out of the question".

"It's not her who owns this issue, it's Ebba Busch," he said on SVT's 30 minutes.

"Quite unique"

Right now, negotiations are underway on the reduction obligation – and according to Åkesson, it looks like the issue will be taken all the way to the highest top of the Tidö parties.

"It's on its way to party leader level. It is quite unique, we do not negotiate very much at the party leader level, but this is such an issue.

The reduction obligation is the level of blending of biofuels into fossil fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Today, the reduction obligation is 7.8 percent for gasoline and 30.5 percent for diesel.
