In the midst of the inflation storm, the alliance in Region Uppsala with the Christian Democrats, Moderates, Liberals and Center Party is putting forward a proposal on how the budget of just over SEK 15 billion should be distributed in 2024. It is a tough situation, according to the parties, with a reduced value of tax revenues, while costs are increasing. The budget includes a so-called employee package of SEK 80 million.

Money for salary investments

– It should pay to be an experienced employee in Region Uppsala and therefore we allocate money for salary investments in addition to the regular salary review, says regional councillor Malin Sjöberg Högell (L)

But that is not enough, according to regional councillor Vivianne Macdisi (S).

"We lack clear proposals on how to make ourselves less dependent on temporary nurses. Greater investment is needed in the staff who carry out the care, she says.
