• LOC Sergio Gregori: the 'Ferreras' of Canal Red that Pablo Iglesias raises to his breasts
  • LOC Inna Afinogenova: the "Russian agent" of Pablo Iglesias who went from the Kremlin to Bolivarianism

Several of the main collaborators of Pablo Iglesias in the television of Podemos have taken control of the Union of Journalists of Madrid (SPM) in its VI Congress after presenting by surprise and minutes before the end of the term an alternative candidacy. The result was the unexpected victory of the list headed by Sergio Gregori, presenter of one of the flagship programs of Canal Red, who became the new secretary general after imposing himself on the list promoted by the previous leadership.

Gregori, whose program El Tablero mimics the format of Antonio García Ferreras' Al Rojo Vivo, is one of the co-founders who launched Canal Red a few months ago under the leadership of the former Podemos secretary general. Since the start of its broadcasts, this new platform has become the new pulpit from which Iglesias intervenes in politics and also from which the interests of the Podemos leadership are seconded or from which the media and journalists are discredited.

Now, in addition, the team closest to Iglesias has under its control one of the unions that has the most presence in the works councils of the main national media. The SPM is all the committees and staff delegates of Expansión, El Confidencial, La Razón, Público, Grupo Europa Press, Servimedia, delegation of El Periódico de Cataluña and Ediciones Reunidas (magazines of the Prensa Ibérica group). In addition, it has representatives on the committees of EL MUNDO, Cadena SER, Círculo de Bellas Artes and Ilunion Retail y Comercialización (of the ONCE Group).

Along with Gregori, other prominent members of the Iglesias channel, such as Inna Afinogenova, are also part of the new Executive Board of the Union of Journalists of Madrid. She was one of Vladimir Putin's great propagandists in Spanish for Spain and Latin America until she signed for his podcast shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since then Afinogenova is part of the team closest to the former leader of Podemos and intervenes assiduously in the contents and in the program. Another person linked to Canal Red is Xavi Matas, who is a director.

In the candidacy of Gregori were also and are part of the new management team profiles outside Canal Red but also very politically significant as the journalist Cristina Fallarás, who has participated in a few acts of Podemos; José Manuel Martín Medem, RTVE advisor appointed at the proposal of the purple party after writing in his newspaper; or Elizabeth Duval, writer and commentator.

Gregori's victory took place within the framework of the VI Congress of the SPM, held last Saturday. The co-founder of Canal Red presented his candidacy when there was barely time left for the closing of the deadline. It was unexpected because until then there was only going to be one list, the one that drove the previous direction.

In addition to this last-minute movement, the surprising presence of a score of young people who came to vote drew attention. The result was 30 votes in favor of Gregori's candidacy for the 16 supports received by the official list. 46 of the union's approximately 550 members participated.

The new secretary general of the SPM replaces Marta Sánchez Esparza at the head of the Executive Board, where he will have a majority although he will integrate members of the losing list.
