On the sidelines of a general assembly of the CBF, the leader explained to journalists that he hoped to be able to announce the name of the new coach by May 25, date of the announcement of the list of players who will play the friendly matches of June, whose opponents remain to be defined.

"Before thinking about Plan B, I want to exhaust all the possibilities of Plan A," said Rodrigues, who has never hidden that Ancelotti, currently under contract with Real Madrid, was his first choice.

On April 1, the Italian coach confirmed that the CBF wanted to make him the successor to Tite, who left his post after the elimination in the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

"The reality is that the Brazil national team wants me, and that flatters me, it delights me. But we must respect the current contract (with Real Madrid, which expires in June 2024, editor's note), a contract that I want to honor until the end," he said at a press conference.

The decision on Ancelotti's future must be made at the end of his season with Real, who are out of the running in the Spanish league but qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League and the final of the Copa del Rey.

In case of refusal of the Italian, the CBF could fall back on Fernando Diniz, coach of Fluminense, team in form of this beginning of the season in Brazil, or on the Portuguese Abel Ferreira, currently stationed at Palmeiras, and Jorge Jesus (Fenerbahçe), the main names approached by the Brazilian media.
