For several days, fighting has been going on between the armed groups that rule Sudan. Civilians have come under fire and hundreds are reported to have been killed in the attacks, according to Christophe Sacko.

Sacko, who is stationed at Läkarmissionen's regional center in Nairobi, Kenya, is responsible for the evacuation of the organization's staff.

"We have managed to evacuate all twelve employees from Khartoum. But that in no way means that we will abandon Sudan," he said.

He explains that they choose to allow some personnel who work in less vulnerable areas in Sudan to remain in the country in order to investigate ways to assist with humanitarian aid.
