Host Tucker Carlson has reached an agreement to leave Fox News Media, the company said in a statement. His departure comes less than a week after Fox News and its parent company Fox Corp settled for $787.5 million in a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems.

The settlement avoided a lawsuit that put one of the world's leading media companies in the spotlight for its coverage of false allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. election.

Carlson was expected to testify at Dominion's trial. Dominion had alleged that statements made on Carlson's show after the 2020 election were defamatory and that the messages between Carlson and his team were proof that he and his team knew the falsity of claims that Denver-based Dominion's vote-counting machines, were used to rig the election in favor of Democrat Joe Biden.

Carlson's last program was on April 21, the company said in a statement. Fox News Tonight" will air live at 8 p.m. EST starting tonight as an interim program run by rotating Fox News personalities until a new host is named.
