Sudanese activists posted videos on social media documenting the widespread destruction and fire in shops as a result of shelling and clashes that took place in the Shambat neighborhood of Khartoum on Saturday, the second day of Eid al-Fitr.

The footage shows extensive destruction in a residential neighborhood, property fires, and plumes of smoke rising from several neighborhoods as a result of shelling and mutual clashes.

It is noteworthy that clashes broke out between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital Khartoum and other Sudanese areas on April 15, due to the escalating political dispute and 4 years after the overthrow of former President Omar al-Bashir.

The two sides disagreed during negotiations over a plan to form a civilian government and integrate the RSF into the armed forces.

Although a truce has been declared several times, including a three-day truce on the Eid al-Fitr holiday that began on Friday, it has not been observed, and clashes have continued in several Sudanese cities, including the capital.
