"On Tuesday, April 18, the head of the Canadian diplomatic mission in Moscow, Alison LeClaire, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry for a demarche in connection with unacceptable public comments ... and the dissemination of knowingly false information about the Russian army to Vladimir Kara-Murza," the ministry said in a statement.

The Russian ministry stressed that these actions, together with Ottawa's Russophobic statements about the goal of the Canadian side to "change the regime in Russia", are direct interference in the affairs of Russia.

The Ambassador of Canada pointed out the inevitable negative consequences of continuing such actions.

On April 17, the Moscow City Court, by partial addition, sentenced the publicist to 25 years in prison in the case of treason and fakes about the Russian army.
