"We demand from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry ... make all necessary efforts to achieve subsidies to farmers or temporarily limit the import of grain and oilseeds to our country in the future agricultural season," TASS quoted the statement as saying.

The association stressed that thousands of small and medium-sized farmers are on the verge of bankruptcy and have not received "any state support."

"The bankruptcy of Moldova's agriculture will not help Ukraine," the statement said.

Earlier, the EU considered illegal the decisions of European countries to ban the import of Ukrainian agricultural products.

On April 17, it became known that Slovakia would suspend the import of grain and some other products from Ukraine indefinitely.

On April 15, Poland and Hungary announced a ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine after farmers in European countries faced losses due to overstocking of the markets of these states with Ukrainian grain.
