Ronneby is the municipality that received the most refugees in terms of population during the refugee crisis in 2015 and onwards. Since 2020, the state has paid out a special state grant as compensation, to help municipalities adapt their operations and cope with the increased costs.

But today, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) announces that the subsidy will be halved, reports Dagens Samhälle.

"Our assessment is that there is not much need for this money," she said during this morning's budget presentation.

The Swedish Migration Agency has already paid out SEK 100 million during the spring, and there will be no more.

Last year, Ronneby municipality received SEK 10.2 million – the most of all municipalities in Sweden.

SVT Nyheter Blekinge is looking for representatives for the municipality.
