US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Trade Minister Gina Raimondo are two of the top politicians coming to Luleå in May. In addition to them, a number of Swedish ministers, including Ebba Busch (KD), and several EU commissioners will also join.

"It's great to be part of organizing a meeting that means so much for the relationship between the EU and the US – but also for the whole world," says Håkan Wiklund.

Meetings in capitals

The fact that the meeting ends up in Luleå is partly due to the fact that Sweden holds the presidency of the EU.

"The Swedish government has chosen to hold its meetings in the country, and that's great. This is not a matter of course. Many people choose to put them in the capitals," says Håkan Wiklund.

He adds that Norrbotten is an attractive region:

"We held a good summit in Kiruna in January and we also have the green transition where our industry is at the forefront of the world.
