Farmer and biogas producer Per Brunberg at Björketorps Gård in Ronneby municipality suffers a financial blow after an EU ruling overturns the tax exemption for Swedish biogas.

Because of this, he received a visit on Friday from the Federation of Swedish Farmers, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and members of parliament from Blekinge.

"Sticks in the wheel"

According to Camilla Brunsberg (M), the halt is due to the fact that the European Commission has treated Sweden formally wrong. She wants the tax exemption to be reinstated, but points out that it could take at least 18 months.

"Farmers and entrepreneurs are affected. The government is working to reintroduce the tax exemption on Swedish biogas as soon as possible, she says.

Annette Rydell (S), Member of Parliament from Blekinge, also wants the tax exemption back.

"It's not good that it's stopped. This puts a spanner in the works for the green transition," she says.

The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise also wants it back.
