The French will soon be able to know where their tax money will go, but also decide how it will be spent, thanks to a government initiative. This will be done through online and face-to-face consultations, an "unprecedented" operation of the Ministry of Public Accounts called "Have for my taxes".

The government will launch a consultation with taxpayers so that "every French can say" how he wants the money from taxes to be spent by the state, said Thursday morning the Minister Delegate for Public Accounts Gabriel Attal. "Feedback of ideas will be organized throughout the territory," explained Gabriel Attal at a press conference organized in Paris on the occasion of the opening of the online income declaration service 2022.

An objective of "transparency"

The exercise, which will involve both online and face-to-face consultations of the French, must allow them to "express themselves", the government then committing to "be inspired" by the ideas that will emerge "in the next budget texts". "I will launch this series of dialogues" on April 25 during a trip with Public Service Minister Stanislas Guerini, said Gabriel Attal. The consultation is part of an "unprecedented" operation of the Ministry of Public Accounts, entitled "Have for my taxes".

As part of this operation, the government wants to launch within "a maximum of one month" a platform "that will allow the French to know exactly how their taxes are spent," said Gabriel Attal. In a stated objective of "transparency", "the French will be able to know how much a kilometer of road costs, a TER station," he detailed. "The tax must attract support," said Gabriel Attal.
