The Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid has opened a file on Monday to a doctor at the Gregorio Marañón hospital who is accused of mistreating his wife and eight minor children in Colmenar Viejo. Although, as Health sources tell this newspaper, the file is initiated by an alleged theft of medical material. Investigators, when they entered his home, found boxes full of medical items, from gowns and operating room suits to gloves, masks and medicines.
The same sources add that Gregorio Marañón will actively collaborate in the face of any judicial requirement. Until there is a final sentence, life remains the same. The health worker continues to go to work "day by day" at his post. "The hospital is at the expense of the development of the investigation of the case to adopt the appropriate measures according to current legislation," they include from Health.
At the moment, a judge granted him freedom with charges, as well as his wife. In addition, they have been removed in a precautionary manner the parental authority of their eight minor children, all between four and 14 years old, who have already entered a first reception center in the Community of Madrid after having suffered episodes of "ill-treatment".
The investigation, in which agents of the Women-Minor Team (EMUME) of the Madrid Command, social services, the prosecutor on duty and the guardian agents of the Local Police have participated, confirmed the "serious situation of helplessness" and "domestic violence" to which the minors had been subjected for years, who "were instructed not to speak".
