The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia stopped the attempt of an international criminal group to use the territory of Russia for transit movement and sale of drugs. This is stated in the message of the Center for Public Relations (DSP) of the department.

In particular, the security authorities recorded attempts to sell a wholesale batch of Latin American cocaine in Moscow. Investigators identified three foreigners - citizens of Colombia and one of the states of the European Union.

"Their task was to receive in Moscow a particularly large consignment of cocaine previously delivered to our country and send it to the states of the European Union. Some of the drugs foreign citizens planned to sell in Russia, "the department said.

As noted in the special service, the criminals rented a warehouse in the Moscow region to a dummy person, where they subsequently repackaged the prohibited goods in order to make it difficult to detect it at checkpoints across the border.

  • FSB reported the detention of members of the drug cartel with 699 kg of cocaine

According to the FSB, when detained red-handed, 699 kg of cocaine was found in the cartel members who arrived in Russia.

"According to experts, the wholesale value of the seized batch on the Russian black market exceeds 2.5 billion rubles. Retail sales could bring a profit to the drug syndicate for a total of at least 6 billion rubles, "the FSB DSP specified.

All three detained drug dealers have been taken into custody. According to FSB estimates, they could face up to 20 years in prison.

As noted in the department, despite the attempts of a number of Western states to destabilize the international system of drug control, Russia's policy in this area is aimed at the complete elimination of security threats caused by illicit trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances and their analogues.

So, at the end of March 2023, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported on the suppression of an attempt by an international group to distribute a large batch of drugs.

To get into this room, it was necessary to go through the basement of a private house, overcoming several meters along the underground passage.

As a result, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the defendants were placed in custody.

Before that, in December 2022, it became known that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation stopped a large channel for the supply of marijuana from the south to the Moscow region. Six members of the drug group were detained, about 260 kg of drugs were seized.
