At least one person on Monday morning allegedly entered a bank building located in the central parts of the city and opened fire, the local police wrote on Twitter.

According to the AP, five people were killed, one of them reportedly a police officer. Even the shooter should be dead.

The Federal FBI confirmed that it has personnel on the scene and while the shooting was ongoing, the public was urged to stay away from the block in downtown Louisville.

Witnesses who managed to get out of the building told a local broadcaster that they heard gunshots inside the premises. According to CNN, bank staff fled to the vault. Images show a large number of police vehicles and ambulances abducting injured people.

"Pray for all affected families and for the city of Louisville," Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear tweeted.
