US President Joe Biden said on Monday that he plans to run for president in 2024, but is not ready to announce it yet.

In an interview with NBC's "Today" program ahead of the White House Rolling Egg contest to celebrate Easter, Biden said: "I intend to run. But we're not ready to announce it yet."

Biden has added that he plans to run for the Democratic Party in 2024 but has not yet officially announced it, and Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have said they will run together.

NBC quoted several unnamed sources as saying that top White House advisers are set to make final decisions on whether to launch a campaign for Biden's re-election.

A source familiar with the matter told CNN that "the decision-making aspect is over, but (Biden) is upset by the pressure on him to announce what he has already decided."
