Zurabishvili made the corresponding statement during an event dedicated to the anniversary of the dispersal of a rally in Tbilisi in 1989. Her words are quoted by TASS.

According to the Georgian president, for several years she has been sending appeals to the mayor of Tbilisi and other officials in order to remake "the memorial, which is dedicated to the Second World War, in Vake Park."

She argues that the memorial needs to be redone so that "together with The Second World War, it unites all our battles, all those people who fought for the independence of this country."

Zurabishvili added that she does not lose hope that her initiative will be implemented.

In January, the Georgian president said she was opposed to the resumption of flights to Russia.
