The Eastern Theater of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) organized a combat readiness patrol and the "Joint Sword" exercise around Taiwan Island from 4 to 8 April in the Taiwan Strait, the northern and southern parts of Taiwan Island, and the sea and airspace east of Taiwan Island. Shi Yi, spokesman for the Eastern Theater, said: This is a serious warning to the collusion and provocation of the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and external forces, and is a necessary action to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Today's exercise focused on testing the ability to seize sea, air, and information supremacy under the support of the joint operation system, and the task units simultaneously organized patrols around Taiwan Island to create an all-round situation of encircling the island. After the Eastern Theater Joint Operations Command Center issues instructions, command information flows efficiently from ground command organizations to air command hubs, from land firepower units to naval and air combat platforms, and task forces are closely coordinated. Theater army long-range box fire, naval destroyers, shore-guided assault groups, air force fighters, bombers, special aircraft, rocket force standing guidance fire units and other task forces quickly assembled in predetermined areas for mobile assembly and operational deployment. Shore, sea, air, and network countermeasures forces carry out electronic reconnaissance, jamming and suppression and other support operations throughout the process.
A number of destroyers of the theater navy, which are carrying out police patrol tasks, are pressing forward and pressing into the waters around Taiwan Island at high speed, flexibly maneuvering to seize advantageous positions, and organizing drills on such subjects as close-range assault, long-range deterrence, air defense and anti-missile according to the situation on the spot. In order to comprehensively seize and control naval and air superiority, joint anti-submarine exercises were launched simultaneously in the waters around Taiwan Island. Police patrol ship formations and anti-submarine patrol aircraft networks have been established to form a joint anti-submarine system.

The anti-submarine patrol aircraft was the first to detect underwater abnormalities, and the long-range underwater acoustic monitoring force was coordinated, guiding multi-type platform equipment to go forward for reconnaissance and comparison, and after data fusion and analysis, accurately captured target signals, and each surface ship quickly launched containment and annihilation, and coordinated with "shark hunting".

During the exercise of seizing air supremacy, dozens of J-16 and J-10C fighters of the theater air force carried live ammunition and launched multiple waves of medium- and long-range air combat confrontation under the guidance and support of early warning aircraft, jamming planes and tankers. All types of fighters are mixed in formation, flexibly arranged, and use methods such as jamming and suppression, position-occupying blockade to quickly search for and annihilate the "enemy" air forces, effectively seizing and maintaining air supremacy in mission airspace.

On the same day, a number of artillery brigades of the theater army and several conventional missile brigades of the rocket force entered the predetermined combat area according to orders, and each launch unit immediately occupied the launch position, launched launch preparations, coordinated with naval and air assault forces, carried out simulated strikes on predetermined targets, and tested the effectiveness of rapid fire response and long-range precision strikes supported by the joint operation system.
