The ministry said that the unit under the command of Mikheev was carrying out a combat mission to storm one of the strongholds of Ukrainian nationalists.

"Having suppressed the enemy's firing points and destroyed a large number of militants, Russian servicemen entrenched themselves on a profitable line and prepared for an enemy attack," the report said.

Captain Mikheev showed competent management of personnel in cooperation with artillery, while his unit destroyed three infantry fighting vehicles, two ATGM crews and did not lose ground.

The head of the press center of the Vostok group, Alexander Gordeev, said earlier that Russian snipers had destroyed an enemy reconnaissance group in the South-Donetsk direction.
