Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the operation of the national aircraft carrier TCG Anadolu next Monday, and its delivery to the country's armed forces.

This came in a speech on Saturday during the opening of the "Basaksehir-Kayaşehir" subway line project in Istanbul.

Erdogan praised the projects implemented by his country in recent years, citing the local electric car "Togg", medical cities, and defense industry projects.

"On Monday, God willing, we will start operating our national aircraft carrier "TCG Anatolia" and hand it over to our armed forces, in a ceremony held in the Pendik district of Istanbul.

Specifications and capabilities

The Turkish aircraft carrier is 231 meters long and 32 meters wide, while its weight with full load reaches 27,30 tons, and it will be able to carry 6 aircraft between helicopters, fighters and drones, as it includes <> airstrips and a runway, as well as transporting ground military vehicles.

The Turkish news agency quoted the American newspaper "Forbes" that the new Turkish aircraft carrier is "a model for other naval forces in the world that are considering acquiring drones."

According to the Russian agency Sputnik, the Turkish aircraft carrier can sail 9,6 nautical miles, has 21 landing pads, and has a top speed of <> knots.

The carrier can accommodate 30 aircraft of various types and missions, including helicopters, drones and fighters, with an area of about 5440,<> square meters.

The carrier is equipped with 3 operating rooms, and on its surface there are two Brunful 1500 artillery launchers, and it can sail in 3 different salts (the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Marmara), and it can sail in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans "when necessary", according to the Turkish website "EKO TrenT".

Regarding the local electric car, Erdogan promised his country's people that they would soon see it on the streets of other countries as well, after seeing it on the streets of Turkey.

He noted that a copy of it will be sent to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirzaev, after one was sent to his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

The TCG Anadolu is the largest warship manufactured with Turkish capabilities.
