Beijing, April 4 (ZXS) -- Zhou Lei, a researcher at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said in Beijing on the 8th that when carrying out the first phase of the joint traceability study of the new crown virus, China has always been in a scientific attitude, and there is no statement that it has concealed or failed to share early case information.

On the same day, the Information Office of the State Council of China held a press conference on the research on the traceability of the new crown in China. A reporter asked, some WHO experts believe that due to the lack of raw data on early cases in China, the first phase of the joint study report has been criticized, what is the response to this?

"When we carried out the first phase of joint traceability research, both Chinese scientists and top international scientists invited and selected by WHO have always carried out traceability research in a scientific attitude." Zhou Lei said.

She said that the Chinese side shared all the early cases that could be collected in Wuhan, including information on possible infections and suspected infections, and the Chinese team and the international expert team worked together every day to present all the collected information, case forms, questionnaires, etc. In this process, in a scientific attitude, in compliance with international practices, to protect the privacy of the investigator, etc., so there is no video or photo, but the expert team shared the data, and there is no concealment or failure to share early case information, which is not true.

Zhou Lei pointed out that after the release of the first phase of the joint research report, it was widely recognized. A joint research report with great scientific value should be duly respected, and it is recommended that everyone uphold the attitude of scientific traceability, jointly devote themselves to the next stage of work, and stop accusing and suspecting each other.

In response to the conclusion that the outside world questioned that the new crown virus was "extremely unlikely" to spread through the laboratory, Tong Yigang, dean and professor of the School of Life Science and Technology of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, said that this was a scientific judgment made at that time, and after a lot of investigation and research, including visiting relevant laboratories in Wuhan, and conducting in-depth exchanges with relevant personnel. "We should carry out further research on the basis of respecting the results of the first phase of joint research, so that we can promote the traceability work more effectively."

Speaking of international cooperation in new crown virus traceability research, Zhou Lei said that since 2020, China, WHO experts and joint traceability research experts have not only worked jointly in Wuhan, but also held video conferences and emails for discussions. "I believe that in the future, we will continue to work closely with WHO, international counterparts, and scientists who have always adhered to a scientific attitude towards the research on the traceability of the new crown, and share the latest research results and data in a timely manner."
