The money will be paid out 5-6 April to those who have approved digitally without changes or additions no later than 30 March and who have reported a bank account to the Swedish Tax Agency. This year, the refund is larger than usual – SEK 27.3 billion will be distributed among three million Swedes. This is five billion more than at the same time last year. More people have been diligent in filing their tax returns this year than last year, according to Ulf Nilsson.

"Over half a million more people have filed their tax returns this year compared to the same period last year. Then there will be more money back, says Ulf Nilsson.

39 percent of Scanians have already declared

In Skåne, just under 600,000 out of 1,533,879 persons subject to tax return approved their tax return before 31 March. The people of Skåne have probably also been fast this year.

"We cannot yet compare with last year, but we have no reason to believe that the figures of the people of Skåne would not follow the national figures," says Ulf Nilsson.

Students Tilda Samuelsson and Tilda Persson know what to do with their money.

"We're going to do some shopping and drink beer," say Tilda Samuelsson and Tilda Persson.

New this year

New for this year is that the Swedish Tax Agency will claim back the back tax as early as September instead of November.

"This year, we are processing all tax returns at the same time instead of dividing them into whether you should pay or get money back," says Ulf Nilsson.
