In their corporate policy, state-owned companies have an obligation to coordinate with the state if they are to make investments or investments that have a major impact on society.

One such project is LKAB's Hybrit initiative together with SSAB and Vattenfall to create fossil-free production of iron and steelmaking.

"Hybrit makes things difficult for other ventures"

But now LKAB's chairman Goran Persson is being criticized by the Sweden Democrats for not having anchored his strategic change of direction. Eric Palmqvist (SD), who is the party's member of parliament in Norrbotten and who sits on the Committee on Enterprise and Innovation, wants to see the state gain more insight into the work, so that coordination will go right.

"LKAB has decided to implement the HYBRIT project, which will require a lot of electricity. This, in turn, will affect society and risk creating displacement effects for other industrial investments, says Member of Parliament, Eric Palmqvist (SD).
