Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that attempts to burn copies of the Holy Quran are a completely clear hate crime and must be stopped.

Speaking at the 14th edition of the traditional Ramadan Iftar program with ambassadors at the AKP headquarters in Ankara, Erdogan said that hateful attempts to burn the Koran are by no means acceptable, and that these despicable acts that hurt the feelings of about two billion people and provoke their anger must end.

On the other hand, the Turkish president said that the current world order is unsustainable and that there is an urgent need to reform the UN Security Council.

Erdogan added that "a system that traps the fate of humanity between the lips of 5 countries is not sustainable, there is an urgent need to reform the UN Security Council with a comprehensive approach."

Regarding the more than year-old war between Russia and Ukraine, the Turkish president expressed his belief that a just peace can give the parties a way out of the crisis, thus pulling the region out of the spiral into which it has been dragged.
