All schoolchildren in Luleå receive school meals even during the Easter holidays

Last Friday, the Children and Education Committee decided that all school children in Luleå should be offered school lunch even during the Easter holidays.

– Food has become more expensive and many families find it difficult to make ends meet, says Emma Engelmark (S), chairman of the Children and Education Committee.

"Do it on a trial basis"

School lunch will be offered Tuesday through Friday next week during the Easter holidays. The decision was made on Friday and communicated to the schools yesterday Monday.

– The children should notify their mentors if they want school lunch even during the Easter holidays, if they are not already registered for leisure during the holidays, says Hans Erik Karlsson, head of school meals at Luleå municipality.

"We're doing this on a trial basis now and then we'll have to evaluate it later," says Emma Engelmark (S).
