The center-right opposition National Coalition (NCP) party maintains a narrow lead in Finland's parliamentary election on Sunday, with 20.8% support in early voting.

The initial count is often skewed and the result remains very close with 40.1% of the votes counted, according to data from the Ministry of Justice.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin's Social Democratic Party would be in second place with 20.7% support, followed by the far right, embodied by the Finnish Nationalist Party with 18.6%.

Social Democrat Prime Minister Marin, 37, is popular around the world but has faced criticism at home over her government's public spending.
