Never before have so many people been banned from attending sporting events as in 2022. The reason is that the police changed their way of working after criticism of their previous work, where football clubs were punished after disturbances during matches.

"We received quite a lot of criticism when we made major changes with reductions in audiences, some thought it was collective punishment," says Per Engström, section manager at Noa.

Even clubs can shut down

The police work together with the football clubs, which in turn can make organizer suspensions. In 2022, Hammarby Fotboll closed off 34 people.

"You could say it's a yardstick for how good we are. You can also think that it is a measure of how badly things are going, says Göran Rickmer, security manager Hammarby fotboll.
