Indian media sources reported that an Indian Muslim citizen was killed after being assaulted by Hindu extremists in northeastern India, claiming that he was trying to trade in "illegal meat".

The Indian "Maktoub Media" website stated that the victim was named Naseeb Qureshi, who is 47 years old, and was accompanied by his nephew when a number of activists assaulted them near a mosque in the city of Chhabra, Bihar state, last Tuesday.

His nephew, Fayrouz, said that he managed to escape from the crime scene.

While the aggressors continued to exchange assaults on his uncle with fists and sticks.

He added, "I went to the police station to inquire about my uncle, and I was treated badly, and one of the officers told me that the perpetrators of the incident were not harmed, and that we deserve that."
