A Japan-ROK summit meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and President Yun Sung-ryul of the ROK will be held in Japan next week.

Taking this opportunity, the governments of Japan and South Korea are considering resuming "shuttle diplomacy" between leaders of the two countries.

In light of the fact that the South Korean side announced a solution this week to the issue of "recruitment" during the Pacific War, the government announced on the 9th that South Korean President Yun will visit Japan for two days from the 16th next week, and Prime Minister Kishida will I announced that I will hold a Japan-ROK summit meeting with the minister.



This is the first visit to Japan by a South Korean president since 2019.



On the evening of the 9th, Prime Minister Kishida reassessed South Korea's solution and said, "I would like to take this as an opportunity to work on strengthening the relationship between the two countries."



Taking this opportunity, the governments of Japan and South Korea are considering resuming mutual visits by leaders, known as "shuttle diplomacy," which has been suspended for more than 10 years.



In addition, there is an opinion within the Japanese government that South Korea should be invited to the Hiroshima Summit of the G7 = seven major countries in May. Our policy is to make a final decision while looking at the possibilities.
