It's March 8, International Women's Day, and Kvinnojouren Blenda in Växjö has a lot to do.

They lecture at schools and organize events, while also offering support calls and sheltered accommodation for vulnerable women.

- We have seen an increase in the number of cases in our open operations in recent years.

It is difficult for us to say whether the violence is increasing, but we think that more people dare to seek help, so the need is great in Kronoberg county, says Caroline Coucher, operations manager.

Now the women's shelter believes that more conversations in the near future will be about finances and digital control, due to the changed economic world situation.

Hear Caroline Coucher talk about what the long-term economy means for the women's shelter's operations.

The violence does not take a break

LNU researcher Marie Eriksson has researched specifically economic violence against women, and believes that in times of recession, women find it more difficult to break up from a relationship.

- In general, it can be said that the difficult economic situation makes women even more dependent on their husbands.

But the economic violence will not take a break.

Now there is a structural economic crisis in society that affects women in their private lives.
