In the latest survey from Novus, S got 38.2 percent – a happy measure for the newly formed opposition party.

But several leading S representatives whom Politikbyrån has interviewed warn the party against leaning back on the high opinion figures.

- S consists of political craftsmen.

Often it is when we know that things work in practice that we then turn it into political principles.

But this is also what makes it difficult for us to find our way in opposition.

That we are lousy opposition politicians, says former party secretary Lars Stjernkvist.

“There is a lot of work to be done”

SSU's chairman Lisa Nåbo has described S's latest shadow budget as "cowardly" and "really bad" and believes that the party now needs to focus on developing its policy and strategy.

- Policy development has been difficult to say the least to find in recent years.

Now we must devote ourselves more to politics than tactics.

We have been too bad at presenting our own policy and letting the Riksdag vote on it, so that it becomes clear to the Swedish people what the difference will be when we have a right-wing majority in the Riksdag.

But ex-minister Lena Hallengren defends the party's policy development.

- I think you have to understand that it is important to start with the problems.

Knowing which injustices you should really try to fight, she says in Politikbyrån.

"Not fast enough"

Annika Strandhäll, who helped produce S's election analysis, sees another explanation for the election loss.

- We must get significantly better at being in the digital channels and meeting people in social media.

There we see a complete dominance of the right and the SD, which, among other things, succeeded very well with its message of lower fuel prices.

She also does not think that the party was fast enough in the election sprint.

- We could not face these populist plays about nuclear power or fuel prices.

We saw that it was something that moved voters in the final stages of the election and where we should have had an answer in a better way.
