The meal policy became the item during the municipal council where most requested the floor.

But the politicians finally made a unanimous decision.

- We have never had different opinions about it in politics, says Roland Sjögren (KD), municipal councilor and chairman of the municipal board.

- It feels good that we have a clear and established meal policy, says member Lilly Bäcklund (S).

The new policy includes, among other things, one vegetarian day per week.

When the municipality tried more sustainable food last autumn and introduced a new menu, the staff had to endure hatred and personal attacks.

Bäcklund (S): "Everyone must take their adult responsibility"

- Now everyone must take their adult responsibility, regardless of what role we have in Lycksele municipality, and inform the outside world, says member Lilly Bäcklund (S).

The chairman of the municipal board Roland Sjögren (KD) also suggests that the politicians should now go out to the schools and eat the food together with the students to get a better idea of the investment.

More organic and less meat

The ambitious goals included in the policy require that the menu be adjusted again.

60 percent of all food must be locally produced or organic by 2030, right now the value in Lycksele is 11 percent.

Already this year, the proportion is to be increased to 30 percent.

The amount of meat must also be reduced from 14 percent right now to 10 percent already this year.
